Daily’s Premium Meats to expand in St. Joseph, investing $95 million and creating 115 new jobs

Daily’s Premium Meats, a leading provider of high-quality smoked and processed meats, announced today that it will expand in St. Joseph, investing $95 million and creating 115 new jobs. The company will construct another production bay on the east side of its facility, more than doubling its current production capacity.

“We congratulate Daily’s Premium Meats on its expansion in St. Joseph,” said Governor Mike Kehoe. “This company’s strategic decision to grow in northern Missouri is a testament to the region’s skilled workforce and ability to support leading manufacturers.”

The expanded Daily’s facility will have greater smokehouse, food service, and retail capacity in addition to new press technology. The location currently manufactures 2.5% of the nation’s bacon and will increase output to 5% through its expansion.

"Daily’s is proud to be part of the St. Joseph community and this expansion will not only enhance our production capabilities for premium bacon products but also bring valuable job opportunities, driving the economic growth of St. Joseph," said Joe Richmond, General Manager of Daily’s Premium Meats. "We are immensely grateful to the State of Missouri, Buchanan County, the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce, and the St. Joseph community for their support in our plant expansion. We are excited to continue making a positive and lasting impact on the community."

Since 2016, Daily’s has held a strong presence in St. Joseph as a top employer. The company is owned equally by Seaboard Foods and Triumph Foods. All products are marketed and sold by Seaboard Foods. In addition to the St. Joseph plant, the company owns bacon processing plants in Missoula, Montana, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

“DED is proud to partner with Daily’s Premium Meats as it expands, invests, and creates jobs,” said Michelle Hataway, Director of the Department of Economic Development. “This expansion clearly reflects the company’s decision to support the prosperity of Missourians in the St. Joseph community.”

For this expansion, Daily’s will benefit from the Missouri Works program, a tool that helps companies expand and retain workers by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation. The company may receive assistance from Missouri One Start, a division of the Department of Economic Development. Missouri One Start assists eligible businesses with their recruitment and training needs.

What others are saying

“Daily’s Premium Meats has been a great corporate citizen for about a decade,” said St. Joseph Mayor John Josendale. “As Mayor, I am excited to see the company’s continued growth. It’s a testament to St. Joseph’s economy.”
