Missouri Selected as Finalist for Emerging Location at Global Production Awards

The Missouri Film Office announced today that the state of Missouri has been selected as a finalist for Screen International’s Global Production Emerging Location Award. This award is given to a film commission “demonstrating an increased number of productions, attractive incentives, improved levels of service, growing crew base and infrastructure, and great variety of filming spots,” according to the Global Production Awards website

Missouri is among seven locations that have been shortlisted for this international honor, including two other locations in the United States - Broward County, Florida, and El Paso, Texas - as well as four international locations: Canterbury, New Zealand, Wexford County, Ireland, Frøya, Norway, and the Ȧland Islands, Finland.

“Missouri was an incredible place to film,” said producer David Wulf in his testimonial for the award. “I completed two films in the state – Holiday Touchdown: A Chief’s Love Story, for the Hallmark Channel and Don’t Move, an indie horror film. Both required varied landscapes, locations, and varied expertise from a wide range of crew. Missouri delivered on every front. While some infrastructure is still being built out, the film commission was immensely helpful in helping us source those individuals we could train and work with locally.”

The awards ceremony will take place on May 19 in Cannes, France, during the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival.

More from the Global Production Awards website:

“There are countless awards that honor outstanding films and TV shows themselves, but GPAs put the spotlight on the incredible production and location work required to get these films and shows to the screen. They will celebrate the heroes of the production set, locations and studios - who bring the ideas and drama from the script and storyboard onto the screen.”

“The awards will showcase the talent and offering of teams and services and benchmark the very best work in the business. They will highlight the exceptional standards and successes that are being set and achieved by productions and services around the world.”

“The industry’s leading production talents will gather at the Cannes International Film Festival to celebrate the best productions. The event will be attended by leading producers, location managers, UPMs, studios, film commissions, locations executives, industry bodies, and everyone who plays a key role in making sure production happens.”
