The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) announced today that Lesley Rone, Southeast Regional Manager for the Division of Regional Engagement, has been appointed by Governor Parson as Missouri’s Designee to the Delta Regional Authority (DRA).
“I’m pleased to appoint Lesley Rone as Missouri’s Designee to the Delta Regional Authority,” said Governor Mike Parson. “As a committed public servant who lives and works in southeast Missouri, Lesley will represent us well as we work alongside DRA to strengthen the region’s economy. We’re excited for Lesley and look forward to the value she will add to our continued partnership with DRA.”
The DRA was established in 2000 as a formal framework for joint Federal-State collaboration to promote and encourage the economic development of the lower Mississippi River and Alabama Black Belt regions. To fulfill this purpose, DRA invests in projects supporting transportation infrastructure, basic public infrastructure, workforce training, and business development. DRA works to create jobs, build communities, and improve the lives of those that reside in the region. DRA’s region encompasses 252 counties and parishes in parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.
“We’re thrilled for Lesley to serve as our state’s representative to the Delta Regional Authority,” said Michelle Hataway, Acting Director of the Department of Economic Development. “Lesley is a valued team member who embodies our mission of helping Missourians prosper through her dedication, expertise, and passion for the southeast region. We’re grateful for her leadership and our partners at DRA as they work together to make a positive difference for Missouri.”
As Southeast Regional Manager for DED’s Regional Engagement Division, Rone works within Missouri’s southeast region to promote business development through collaboration with local partners. The area in which Rone serves encompasses all Missouri DRA counties. As a native of southeast Missouri, Rone resides in Portageville and holds a master’s degree in communications from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University. Prior to joining DED, Rone served as a field representative for Senator Roy Blunt and worked closely with both DRA and local communities. Rone has also previously worked in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C.
“The Delta Regional Authority provides a critical resource for our southeast Missouri communities,” said Lesley Rone, Missouri Designee to the Delta Regional Authority. “Whether it’s a community infrastructure project, workforce training need, or expert assistance on a complex issue, DRA programs are an essential piece to making numerous projects successful. I look forward to working with the DRA team and our southeast Missouri communities to find continued ways we can partner together and help our communities prosper.”
