The Department of Economic Development (DED) announced today that Tyler Trusk will serve as its new Deputy Director for the Division of Business Opportunities, which facilitates regional economic growth by addressing economic development challenges with a combination of subject matter expertise, program administration, and innovative problem-solving.
“Tyler brings valuable expertise and a thoughtful approach to leadership that are well suited for the Division and the businesses and communities we serve,” said Brooklyn Wasser, Director of the Division of Business Opportunities. “His ability to align strategy with implementation will be a strong asset as we advance the Division’s work and deliver results for Missouri’s economy.”
As Deputy Director, Trusk will help lead the Division of Business Opportunities’ teams and programs designed to promote economic growth statewide. The Division is focused on supporting Missouri businesses to encourage their growth while providing best-in-class customer service. It also houses many of the state’s core economic development tools and programs, which are used in close collaboration with the Regional Engagement Division to develop tailored solutions for business retention and expansion.
“This team is where I started with the department, so it’s exciting to go back and drive strategic enhancements,” Trusk said. “I look forward to collaborating with the team and helping the department accomplish our mission to help Missourians prosper.”
In his previous role as Strategic Operations Coordinator for DED’s Strategy and Performance Division, Trusk oversaw the department’s strategic initiatives, assisted teams in implementing new programs, facilitated process improvements, and promoted the use of data in decision making. Trusk has also served as DED’s liaison for the state’s Operational Excellence community. He is a key contributor to department initiatives that support business growth, including Missouri’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
Trusk is certified in Six Sigma, a process improvement method, and is skilled in optimizing customer experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and administration from Truman State University.
