The CY2020 Youth Opportunities Program guidelines and application is now available. Applications will be accepted beginning December 2, 2019 and must be postmarked no later than December 20, 2019. Applications will be reviewed and scored competitively, with tax credits awarded based on score. Approved projects may begin as early as April 1, 2020.
Administered by the Department of Economic Development, the Youth Opportunity Program is a tax credit for contribution program created to broaden and strengthen opportunities for positive development for at-risk youth ages 21 years and under, and to discourage youth from engaging in criminal and violent behavior.
Eligible projects fall into the following categories:
Degree Completion
Internship/Apprenticeship
Youth Clubs/Associations
Adopt-A-School
Mentor/Role Model
Substance Abuse Prevention
Violence Prevention
Youth Activity Centers
Conflict Resolution
Employment
Counseling
Approved organizations use funding from the program to leverage contributions from the community. Donors receive a 50% tax credit for monetary contributions and a 30% tax credit for in-kind contributions of materials.
