GREENVILLE, Mo.—Today, the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) announced that Kerry is expanding its Greenville, Mo. facility through a $14,295,000 investment. The facility produces a variety of liquid smoke products and currently employs 25 workers with plans to add four additional jobs.
“Kerry expanded to Greenville years ago and has grown ever since, helping us to achieve record employment with more Missourians working than ever before,” said Mike Downing, director of DED. “The company’s significant investment and decision to deepen its roots in Missouri is a testament to our state’s strong workforce and its business friendly environment. We are proud to partner with Kerry and see it continue to expand in the Show-Me State.”
Kerry, the Taste and Nutrition Company, began as a dairy cooperative in Ireland in the 1970’s, committed to producing real and wholesome ingredients. Today, Kerry is responding to consumer demand for real ingredients with better, more authentic and nutritious taste experiences. Kerry acquired the Greenwood, Mo. facility in 2001, and the site produces a variety of liquid smoke products made from locally-sourced hardwood sawdust. The liquid smoke items are used by Kerry’s customers to flavor familiar products such as hot dogs, lunch meats and hams.
The expansion will add approximately 20,650 square feet and the new addition will house sawdust receiving and storage, production equipment, and additional office and conference space. This project will provide the capacity, efficiency, and technology to ensure Kerry continues to provide its customers the highest level of quality and service.
“We chose to expand the Greenville plant due to the synergies achieved between the raw inputs available to the business, the high-quality, loyal employees and the value that local vendors provide,” said Chip Costephens, production manager of the Kerry Greenwood facility. “Kerry is proud to have partnered with the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission and the Wayne County Commission to make this project possible, grow our presence in the community, and provide new job opportunities.”
To assist with Kerry’s expansion, DED offered a strategic incentive package that the company can receive if it meets strict job creation criteria. The Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission, Wayne County Enhanced Enterprise Zone Board and the Wayne County Commission also assisted the company with its expansion.
