BIG LAKE, Mo.—The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) approved $500,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to assist the Village of Big Lake repair damage from recent flooding.

Using CDBG funds, Big Lake will clear or replace blocked culverts and dredge up to four channels of the Lake itself to improve drainage, with the sediment being deposited in appropriate locations.

The CDBG program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides grants and loan funds to cities with a population under 50,000 and counties under 200,000 to assist in a variety of public works and economic development projects.
