Labor market information can be used to help affirmative action planning. For example, the demographic characteristics of the population, labor force, or employment in particular occupations can be compared to the characteristics of an employer´s own workforce.
This site provides instant access to information similar to that provided in hard copy form in the past (Labor Market Information for Affirmative Action Programs, commonly known as AAP packages.) Input data from the 2000 Census, including the Census 2000 Special Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Tabulation, have been incorporated.
Population data (Table 1 in the previous AAP packages) shows the demographic characteristics of the total population, as reported in the 2000 Census.
Occupational employment data (Table 3 in the previous AAP packages) shows the total number and demographic characteristics of the labor force in various occupational groups. In the 2000 EEO file, these characteristics are only reported for larger occupational groups, such as EEO-1 categories, except for areas with population greater than 50,000. EEO-1 groupings are reported here. Detailed data for larger areas may be accessed from the Census Bureau´s site. For help in locating specific occupations a search tool is available. Detailed occupational crosswalks are available.
