The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center opened in October 2001 and performs collaborative research with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Missouri Botanical Garden, the University of Missouri-Columbia, Monsanto Company, Purdue University, and Washington University in St. Louis.

The greenhouse complex is vital to helping scientists gain a greater understanding of how plants grow and develop and offer solutions to meet the global needs of agriculture and human health and nutrition.

Scientists at this 10-acre research campus in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri, conduct basic research focused on long-term solutions to cancer, diabetes, dementia, birth defects and many other genetically based diseases.

Gov. Matt Blunt received the national Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) "Award for Leadership Excellence" for his support of bioscience industry development in Missouri.

The MRP Business Center is one of the main buildings featured at the University of Missouri Technology Park at Fort Leonard Wood -- the first technology park in the nation to be located on an active Army post.
